Smokin' Aces 2 Assassins Ball Movie Details
Update: Smokin Aces 2 Assassins Ball is released to DVD
Smokin Aces 2 does not dissapoint with plenty of fast moving actions and some awesome new characters in Assassins Ball.
Originally 'Smokin' Joe Carnahan told his fans on his Smokin’ Aces sequel on his Joe Carnahan website would be directed by himself. However, not only did the original follow up to Smokin Aces name change to Assassins Ball, but it was not directed b7y Joe Carnahan and instead Smokin Aces 2 Assassins Ball director was P.J. Pesce.
The second movie will be a prequel instead of a sequel, meaning the story happened before the original The plot outline was so strong that it was quickly given the go ahead to produce by Universal Studios. Universal began with the plan for plenty of action and gun fight scense similar to the first. As it turned out, Assasins Ball was a lot different than the original Smokin' Aces and it went straight to DVD with much less fanfare.
The speculation around whether Smokin Aces 2 plot focusing on the Tremor Brothers would live up to the expectations of the many fans of the original turned out to generally not be met. The movie was not nearly as good as the original, and with a smaller budget that is not a total surprise. Sure enough, there is still some great action and some plot twists that make it worth watching.
This was Joe Carnahan original thoughts on the Smokin Aces 2 Assassins Ball "So Universal has given us the greenlight to begin the prequel script and done so with great enthusiasm. They were as adamant about NOT doing a prequel as I was about doing one but since the Nigerians NAILED the outline, they all got hipped and jumped at it. If all bodes well, we’ll have a completed script inside 8 weeks and be shooting 10 weeks later.” On Joe Carnahan's blog he stated that "Smokin Aces: Assassins Ball looks like it's about to ramp up hard. They flipped for the script. Not a single note. Not that we can't get in there and really do some story work and fine tuning but it looks pretty damn good right now. I'd love to find a way to work our regulars into cameos in the flick. I've put my mind to this and we'll devise something slick to give some camera love to the loyalists."
