Smokin' Aces Movie Review
When the sleazy magician and wannabe gangster Buddy ‘Aces’ Israel learns it is not easy to be a mob boss once the Feds have evidence against him, he chooses to turn state’s evidence instead of going to jail. A real mob boss, Primo Sparazza does not like the fact Buddy is informing the FBI about the mob's secrets and decide the best way to deal with the snitch is to have him eliminated. The $1 million contract releases several different assassins onto his path, while he tries to pull off his greatest
disappearing act. With ex-convicts, professional hit men and smokin' hot assassins (Alicia Keys) all trying to beat each other to the bounty, Director Joe Carnahan uses plenty of ammo to drive the action and dark comedy. Smokin' Aces resembles the very popular Quentin Tarantino movies that came out around the turn of the century. The number of storylines that involve the hitmen appears comic book like in that the plot is very fast paced and often confusing, however, the simple idea that most of the characters are all gunning for the same mission to kill Buddy 'Aces' Israel makes understanding the movie a lot easier. This Smokin' Aces Movie turns out to be very entertaining and its unique plot makes it a very enjoyable movie to watch, especially when the FBI and hitmen go toe to toe on each other. I hope you enjoy watching the Smokin' Aces Movie as much as I did. The prequel to Smokin' Aces, Smokin' Aces 2 Blowback, is being filmed and should be out on DVD soon.
